OMG. The best ice cream in the world. What a horrible thing to happen to this little creamery in Texas!
Personally, I would award that appellation to Braum's. They maintain a slightly higher butterfat content than Blue Bell. It's intentional -- they recognize Blue Bell as the second best ice cream in the world.
Their “Pecan Pralines and Cream” is my favorite!
Here in Charlotte, they took all the stock off the shelves over two weeks ago and they have just now started restocking it. Is this a NEW recall or the same one from last month? Anyone know?
It's very good for a mass produced product...............
..............but, if you ever stray from Texas, I'll take you to try the *best*...............
comes from the ag program at UCONN
It's even better than Giffords of Maine....which is pretty darn good.
Sad, that BB has been hit by this calamity....it will take a long time to rebuild their reputation. Hope they recover famously.
Never understood the appeal of Blue Bell. Their mint chocolate chip tastes like soap.

Well, I’m sure it’s good stuff, but I’ve never had better ice cream than you get at The Petaluma Creamery in Petaluma, CA. They don’t market it in stores, so you have to go there in person. I’ve never been able to get beyond their Lavender and Meyer Lemon ice creams. The woman who runs the place takes the lavender from her place, ditto the Meyer lemons! The stuff is just off the hook good! Their big play is gourmet cheese, the ice cream is just a sideline. All hand-packed while you wait.

It happens, but it’s not the end of the world. They’ll disinfect the plant, test it to make sure it’s gone, and go back into production.
The voluntary recall is a good thing.
