I’ve seen coyotes make their way pretty far into the interior of Chicago, they use the forest preserves and freight train tracks to bypass the areas with a lot of human traffic. When we used to go up on the tracks at night to drink a few beers, you could spot em sneaking around in the moonlight.
Now the park near my house has a huge Northern Goshawk hunting the local squirrels. They are only supposed to rarely venture this far south, and avoid populated areas, but he seems right at home and has stuck around for over six months now, showing no real fear of us humans.
I guess the upshot of all this ‘migration’ is - ‘can’t we all just get along - ?’
