WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland has summoned the United States' ambassador in Warsaw over an article written by a top U.S. intelligence official on Poland's alleged responsibility for the Holocaust during World War Two, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Sunday.
The article by FBI director James Comey, published in the Washington Post earlier this week, prompted an outcry in Poland and drew condemnation in the media and from politicians.
A foreign ministry spokesman said on his Twitter account that the U.S. ambassador would be summoned to the ministry over the article, and that Poland would demand an apology.
Comey said in the article: "In their minds, the murderers and accomplices of Germany, and Poland, and Hungary, and so many, many other places didnt do something evil. They convinced themselves it was the right thing to do, the thing they had to do."
Poland says the passage wrongly implied it was complicit in the Nazi genocide of European Jews.
Poland's ambassador to the United States said in a statement the remarks were "unacceptable", adding that he had sent a letter to Comey "protesting the falsification of history, especially ... accusing Poles of perpetuating crimes which not only they did not commit, but which they themselves were victims of."
Shortly after Poland's announcement, U.S. Ambassador in Warsaw Stephen Mull told reporters he would attend a meeting at the foreign ministry on Sunday afternoon. . .

“Poland” didn’t exist at the time, as they were a captive territory.
Look up “Bloody Sunday” sometime, State Dept.
The FBI director Comey said a very stupid thing. Besides, what was the context that he would find it necessary to defend the indefensible?
The US Ambassador to Warsaw had to apologize for him, of course. Even Obama must have said, “Please do”.
Many Poles were SLAVE LABOR in the concentration camps and other places..
and saw many things..
Generalplan Ost
The Generalplan Ost (Master Plan East, GPO) was a secret Nazi German plan for the colonization of Central and Eastern Europe.[1] Implementation would have necessitated genocide[2] and ethnic cleansing on a vast scale to be undertaken in territories occupied by Germany during World War II.[2]
The plan entailed the enslavement, expulsion, and/or extermination of most Slavic peoples (Poland) in Europe, who the Nazis viewed as subhumans and non-Aryan.[2][3]. . .
. . .Percentages of ethnic groups targeted for elimination by Nazi Germany from future settlement areas[11][12] Ethnic group Percentage subject to removal
Poles 8085%
Russians 5060% to be physically eliminated and another 15% to be sent to Western Siberia.
Belarusians 75%
Ukrainians 65%
Lithuanians 85%
Latvians 50%
Estonians 50%[13]
Czechs 50%
Latgalians 100%
Yeah, Polish anti-Semitism didn’t exist. (Heavy sarcasm)

The truth is that almost every Nazi occupied nation helped murder their Jewish neighbors. Some like the French and the Dutch did it with gusto. But they love to make the holocaust a “German only” event. It wasn’t.
Poland did not exist. Doesn’t matter if there was antisemitism in Poland, the Polish Government was in exile in England.
“Yeah, Polish anti-Semitism didnt exist. (Heavy sarcasm)”
Now the Polish ambassador is gonna summon you too! Never speak against the orthodoxy.
Your statement does not make sense. Poland being occupied does not mean no Poles were anti-semites. And what about anti-Semitism after WW2?
Just have Harf clear this up.
Talk about a JV Team, that describes our State Department to a T.
Maybe some Dutch....but don’t lump them all in there. My sister’s father-in-law narrowly escaped death because he refused to do what the Nazi’s asked of him and so he was imprisoned. He was marched naked in the streets and was scheduled to be sent to a labor camp until a friend risked his own life and moved the index card with the father-in-law’s name on it from one stack of cards of people to be shipped away to different stack of names.
A German family for a time hid the father in law and his wife from the Nazis.
It’s hard to think of a nicer more gentle soul that Villim....may he rest in peace.
No more than any other European country, now it so happens that Poland had more Jews than any other country in Europe before the war..Why was that?
True, the Austrians were even more hardcore anti-semites than even the Germans.
No worse than that of France., whose government WAS complicit in the exportation of the Jews.
The Austrians are German.
Austrians are German? No comment.
France's record was atrocious to be sure, but there are some facts that tend to get muddled. First of all, yes, if you were an alien Jew living in France, you were pretty much doomed, but 75% of French-born Jews did actually survive the war, a much higher figure than most of the other occupied countries. And the Vichy regime was led to believe that the Jews they were sending to the East were being sent to Family camps, at least in the beginning, they really didn't know the fate they were consigning them to, to them they were merely dumping their "alien" Jews. Again a horrible crime, but it needs to be put in some context.
