The Movie Reviews
Tonight we saw “Maps to the Stars” about a highly dysfunctional Hollywood family, the parents of which, unbeknownst to them, are siblings. Their two children have all the ensuing genetic defects that are to be expected
from inbreeding. The children, in their teens, are both actors, but have no empathy for their victims, some of whom die. It was three stars at best, but very cringe worthy in many of the plot twists and scenes.
Also, “Exodus: Gods and Kings” the Biblical story of Moses and his rescue of the Hebrews from slavery by the Egyptians. I don’t know who thought it up, but Almighty God appears to Moses as a six or seven year-old
boy who guides him through their travails and tribulations, protecting the Hebrews from the seven plagues and parting the Red Sea, only to drown Pharoah’s army when the Hebrews are safe. Moses gets the Decalogue
from God, and prepares for 40 years of wandering in the desert eating manna and going to the Promised Land. Five big, fat stars. Everyone, even the God-child who guided Moses, was just perfect. It’s a great movie,
and we’re going to buy it.
