All of that could be true, but we still end up, if we go government out of the marriage business route, with same sex married couples. I’m not sure what the benefit is.
There would be a lot LESS interest in “same sex marriage” if Uncle Sugar could not be dragooned into bludgeoning everyone else to accept it.
That’s the beauty of a household approach. Better to bow out of marriage than to “fix” it in the ways it has already tried to fix it.
Not just could be true, IS true - unless you can somehow contrive love between two people and devotion to God as things that come out of a bureaucrat's office.
And the benefit? The benefit is the difference between rights and privileges. Which, in turn, is the entire point of the Constitution. But to those who find such distinctions trivial, nothing more can be said.
Basically it is a hostility game from hell that makes SSM go. If the possibility of being imposed on other people goes away, so does the thrill. You can have “private same sex married” people and outside of their own teapot, their tempest will not reach if the government is not telling anyone else “thou shalt” with respect to those couples.
Remove their air, is what I’m saying. In the meantime, genuine marriage will get an upswing of special recognition from churches. As long as Christians are faithful what is not to like?
