And conservative Christians tend live in the community of the present, where their blasphemy of placing the authority for the legitimization of marriage at the feet of government, and out of the hands of God, has created a situation whereby the government is now forcing them to accept gay marriage.

It was an uncomfortable truce for quite a while. Caesar got to regulate the marriages as long as Caesar was “sufficiently close” to the doctrines of most churches, and most churches were “sufficiently close” to the bible on this matter. That has already begun to go to hell.
I’d be even more radical than forcing Caesar’s authority to designate off to “civil union.” I’d force him off to “household.” The “household” has an honorable biblical tradition (as in believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household).
We need to secede in spirit from the government or it will colonize us the way IT wants.
