I think (correct me if I’m wrong) that TWA 800 came along just before Jim Robinson decided to start up an interesting little website called FreeRepublic.com
If so, it seems likely that TWA would have seen a lot of FR print. I’m hoping someone remembers. What I remember is that the Clinton Whitewater Usenet group or something related was all over this story like a wet towel. But the story might have been what first brought me to FR. Maybe, maybe not.
In any case this story is correct. TWA800 was shot down. It was obvious right from the start. Clinton used the FBI to lie to the American people and cover up what really happened. Mostly likely a Navy Submarine (by mistake of course), possibly a terrorist attack.
Submarines don't have surface to air missiles, for obvious reasons. Shooting it off gives away their position. And how would a submerged submarine know there was an airplane around to shoot at and how would they aim the missile?
Actually, there was much discussion about the event here on FR. An ex-user named Michael Rivero presented opinions that were much-criticized. Take a look here for some of those threads.
Clinton said he was coming to comfort the families of the dead. O'Connor was already there, and told him that if he showed up, O'Connor would leave immediately.
Clinton did not show up.
As a side note O'Connor would not permit Clinton to speak at St Patrick's the entire time he was Cardinal of NYC. He had to be dead for Clinton to even show up at St. Patrick's
