I can remember back in the early 1990s, the A&E channel aired Letterman episodes from the early to mid 1980s period. They were quite fun to watch in many instances. Too bad he ended up the sort of person I felt compelled to write my above post about.

I watched a lot of Letterman back in the 1980’s and he was okay but his humor was never what I would call great.

I never understood why Carson thought he was so funny or why he should have gotten The Tonight Show after he left in 1992.

Your right in the last 15 or so years Letterman turned into a screaming, vicious Left-Wing Liberal Socialist. Of course notice this happened after he hit it big with that show he produced “Everybody Loves Raymond” and he became really rich into the Hundreds of Millions, see then you can become a Socialist and tell everyone else what to do. I am sure he has his checkbook out for Hillary.

Thought his show became way too PC since he went to CBS. His show was far better in the 80’s when he was on NBC. For me stupid human tricks and dropping things off that three story building in Brooklyn and watching them hit the ground in slow mo was classic Letterman.

I was young enough to be home with no school in the summertime and conversely old enough to remember when he was on some daytime show, where he was actually funny. When they put him on late night, he was way less than Johnny Carson.

I guess Carson had been doing what he did for so long that he looked “dated” to audiences that wanted “edgy” rather than “classy”.

“Yep. Never thought he was funny. Just another liberal getting paid to insult.”

...conservatives. He was a liberal propagandist. That’s all. Never really ever entertaining. Saw him a few times and even his guests had puzzled looks on their faces when he talked. He was a weirdo.

Letterman hasn't specified who, if anyone, will join him for his final show after 33 years on late-night TV.

I predict his final guest will be Madonna.

Yep. He was really weird but evidently some people liked him because he was on FOREVER with his lame self.

I used to watch him, back in the 80’s, when he was funny.

...

He portrayed himself kind of as a rebel against the network and entertainment industry. He was funny back then. Chris Eliiot added a lot to the show, too.

Packing your show with stars is a sure sign that you are no longer able to carry it.

Chris Elliot and Larry Bud Melman were great. I used to tape all of the Late Night shows. Then Dave changed and became a bitter self-loathing lib.

Think maybe on his last show he’ll apologize to Sarah Palin about his disgusting comments regarding her daughter? Do ya’ think? Never watched him after he said that crap about her daughter. He’s a scumbag and I certainly won’t miss him.

What are his ratings like? I don’t know anyone who watches him or talks about his show. That includes the young people I work with.

Tina Fey, really? A star? surely you jest. Nobody even knew who she was until she started mocking Sarah Palin and then Sarah went on snl. IMO she’s a parasite..........worse than the rest.

“I am amazed he got so far and for so long.”

IMO he broke into show business because he used to be funny, later he was kept by cbs because he’s such a rabid lib. Hell look at Saturday night live, it’s deteriorated into nothing more than a soapbox for libs to espouse their venom and mock Christians, Conservatives and anything else they feel threatens them. Yeah they throw in the odd poke at Obama, hitlery and the like but rarely. The hatchet job skit they did on Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp after the blue dress was unbelievably brutal, vicious and nasty.

” I enjoyed Letterman until he turned into a nasty, vicious and hateful ultra-leftist.”

This is exactly what the SOB is!

He really did turn nasty in his old age, didn’t he? I haven’t watched him in years. Ah, what a shame. My streak of ignoring him is about to come to an end.

In fact, I won’t watch any “late night” TV; all of them are pushing the 0bamnunist kool-ade.

Well, I will watch a late night west coast hockey game once in a while, especially if it’s to watch the Kings lose. But that’s it.

Letterman overstayed his welcome... By about 15 years.
