Another Politician Exploits America’s Love of Chipotle for Votes
New York Magazine ^ | April 13, 2015 | Jaime Fuller

Posted on 04/13/2015 7:34:45 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Hillary Clinton is on a road trip to Iowa, and like all people on a road trip eager to show the world that they are just a regular person, she stopped at Chipotle for lunch.

Clinton ordered a chicken burrito bowl with guacamole at an outpost of the fast-casual empire in Maumee, Ohio. "She got great food," the restaurant's manager told ABC News. "Everybody loves Chipotle.”

Twitter had many thoughts on this important development in the 2016 race. If anyone had any doubts about her candidacy, this would have dispelled them. Going to Chipotle is now a crucial part of the presidential nomination process, as Mitt Romney and Barack Obama proved in 2012.

Why do people seem more obsessed with politicians going to Chipotle than other fast-food places? Is it because it makes them seem strangely hip? Is it because it shows that they are as beholden to the guacamole and naturally raised meat as those they hope to lead? The world may never know. But there's no doubt that people seem to be as excited about Clinton's burrito craving as the guy who stood next to Mitt Romney during his Chipotle visit in the last election cycle.

I ate there once, too, and I’d never go back. It’s trendy and expensive because they tout organic this and organic that all over the menu.

If the photograph was supposed to be of two elderly women robbing a fast food place, it would be more believable. Who wears sunglasses indoors in April?

Me either. We have a Chipotle not too far from our house. I never go there. There are just too many good real Mexican food places around us.

Chipotle is OK, but you can get better Mexican food in my area at the Little Caboose Taco Shop in Anaheim, El Tepeyac in La Puente or Boyle Heights, or any of the King Taco eateries.

Oh yes! A knowledgeable Freeper!

I have had that album in one technology or another for 45 years. Talk about timeless. I remember the moment I first heard Astrud singing about Ipanema on the radio in 1963 when I was 11. I didn't know who my namesake was until a few years later with Sergio Mendes.

So what is your music of choice?

I really wonder does Hillary Clinton realize she could end up be equated with Teresa Heinz Kerry—and we know what a PR disaster that was 11 years ago....

Gin-soaked raisins,
Chipotle's got 'em all right here.
Gin-soaked raisins
Munch a carpet when Huma's near.

A little bit of a time continuum, no?

I also fell in love with Ipanema in 63, I was in Junior Hs.

I have a wide range of music I love, rock, opera, classical, Cole Porter, Sinatra... I’m all over the map. I love so much of Jobim, if not all.

Astrud, I could listen to her endlessly.

It’s the contents of a burrito in a bowl, instead of a tortilla.

Astrud, I could listen to her endlessly.

....

For Ipanema she was young, had almost no professional singing experience and was told at the last minute that there was a song for her to sing in the studio. I can hear the youth and inexperience in the recording and it worked perfectly for that song.

You could substitute, “liberal” or “Hillary” for Chipotle and you would have eloquently surmised her campaign.

same deal here in Rochester. We have them all - Chipotle, Moes etc...none of them hold a candle to the place that’s in the quickiemart serving up the real deal
