His support of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and other bills spawned from it. That Lyndon Johnson masterpiece was the major piece of legislation that to this day has allowed politicians to engage in social engineering. This threat was recognized by conservatives of the day who understood that it included the power to order individual Americans what to believe. One of the risks of freedom is that your neighbor might hold opinions you find abhorrent. Two of the conservative luminaries who spoke out against this bill because it was a threat to personal freedom were Barry Goldwater and his ardent supporter Ronald Reagan.
Dennis also holds one of the most extreme views on immigration I’ve ever heard. He gives Jeb Bush a run for the money. He’s for dramatically increasing the amount of legal immigration into the United States. If massive immigration from the 3rd world permanently transforms the nature of the American people, well, who’s to say there is problem with it? Certainly not Dennis.
And there’s his ideas on race. Political Correctness isn’t PC enough for old Dennis. The sort of sardonic common sense posting that goes on here at FR on some of the crime threads would have Dennis denouncing the place as a hotbed of racism. According to the Dennis theory of the world there isn’t the slightest correlation between ethnicity and behavior, and to speak otherwise about it isn’t a mistake, it’s evil.
