When I first started seeing the equal sign sticker on cars I thought it might be Vietnam or Gulf War vets - iirc they wear ribbons with stripes indicating serving “in country”. But then I realized they were mostly on Subaru’s so I did a web search.
Boy was I wrong!
Yeah. I was thinking they were for Navy Lieutenant or Marine Captain bars or something.
