Chelsea Clinton has given an interview about life in the public eye, being a new mother and her hope that the US one day elects a female president.
While she stops short of naming a potential runner there can be little doubt given the timing of her comments about who she means.
It is no secret that her mother, Hillary, is due to announce her run for the White House on Sunday.
Ms Clinton told Elle magazine: One of our core values in this country is that we are the land of equal opportunity, but when equal hasn't yet included gender, there is a fundamental challenge there that, I believe, having our first woman presidentwhenever that iswill help resolve.
Ms Clinton, 35, became a mother last year, giving birth to Charlotte, and also describes her experiences of motherhood.
I now understandthis is something else that Marc and I talk about all the timeall of the enthusiastic, bombastically spectacular, wonderful things people say about their children, because we also feel and think all those things about Charlotte, said Clinton.
Inevitably, though, after growing up in the White House and having two of the country's most successful political operators for parents, much of the interview is taken up with politics.
And in particular the importance of seeing a woman lead the country.
Do I think it would make a substantive difference? she added. Yes, we've seen again and again, when women have been in positions of leadership, they have had different degrees of success versus their male counterparts, historically being able to build more consensus so that decisions have longer-term effects, whether in economic investments or in building social capital.
Who sits around the table matters. And who sits at the head of the table matters, too."

Yea, like it needed a ‘Black’ one.
So Chelsea is a Sarah Palin supporter. Who knew?
Who sits around the table matters. And who sits at the head of the table matters, too.”
“Shut up and eat your peas!”
I can hardly wait.
I would tell Chelsea that there is a big difference between a female and a feminist. Her mother is a feminist and an old witchy one at that!
"You betcha."
GREAT if we get a female president!
an honest, competent, loyal, and somewhat-level-headed one.
we’ve already had the exact opposite in a male persident,
we don’t need a repeat (of whatever genetalia).
Does Chelsea happen to know any honest, competent, loyal, level-headed females? Probably she knows several.
(Outsider her family ,of course.)
So, sexism is encouraged? Okay, then I really believe a good, solid, right-wing male is the best choice for America. We have seen the results her left-wing mother gave us with her left-wing father.
Women leaders have been better able to build consensus??? Really??? Does she know this for a fact or is this just stream of consciousness which is supposed to pass for deep thought????
America needs a president who stands for something other than Big Government, corruption, and dynasties. That wouldn’t be Mrs. Clinton on any count.
Somebody spent a long time on that photo.
You know what? She is still ugly!
Thanks for the advice Chelsea.
Yeah, just like the old feminazi refrain, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle,” right?
Chels wouldn’t like Carly Fiorina either...
RE: Chelsea Clinton: America Needs a Female President
No Chelseas, America needs a competent, law abiding president, male or female, and your mother ain’t it.
Anyone who worked for HP won’t like Carly Fiorina neither.
If Chelsea was talking about her mother she should have said, “America needs an OLD woman president”.
Because a uterus is so much nicer
