Chelsea Clinton has given an interview about life in the public eye, being a new mother and her hope that the US one day elects a female president.
While she stops short of naming a potential runner there can be little doubt – given the timing of her comments – about who she means.
It is no secret that her mother, Hillary, is due to announce her run for the White House on Sunday.
Ms Clinton told Elle magazine: “One of our core values in this country is that we are the land of equal opportunity, but when equal hasn't yet included gender, there is a fundamental challenge there that, I believe, having our first woman president—whenever that is—will help resolve.”
Ms Clinton, 35, became a mother last year, giving birth to Charlotte, and also describes her experiences of motherhood.
“I now understand—this is something else that Marc and I talk about all the time—all of the enthusiastic, bombastically spectacular, wonderful things people say about their children, because we also feel and think all those things about Charlotte,” said Clinton.
Inevitably, though, after growing up in the White House and having two of the country's most successful political operators for parents, much of the interview is taken up with politics.
And in particular the importance of seeing a woman lead the country.
“Do I think it would make a substantive difference?” she added. “Yes, we've seen again and again, when women have been in positions of leadership, they have had different degrees of success versus their male counterparts, historically being able to build more consensus so that decisions have longer-term effects, whether in economic investments or in building social capital.
“Who sits around the table matters. And who sits at the head of the table matters, too."

Interesting that she is never referred to as Chelsea Mezvinsky Clinton. You think having a jail bird father in law would be a resume builder for her target audience..

See, all they do is focus on differences. All I want is a patriot who loves America and will do his/her best to protect her and her citizens. Be he/she black, white, orange, purple, male, female, Atheist, Mormon, Christian, etc. We don’t “need” anyone but someone who will protect the rights of We the People.

They probably didn’t have the weeks it would take to photoshop her ugly mug into a presentable state.
Chelsea needs to know who her real daddy is first.

I would not vote for a woman because whe has "woman parts" ,
anymore than I would vote for a man who has "man parts".
It's not about sex of the candidate .. It's about PROVEN ABILITY !, VISION !

Americans tried to get a WOMAN elected as VP. Her name was Sarah Palin. The commie lib DemocRATS wanted a Kenyan Marxist instead. We quickly learned that electing somebody just because their skin tone and/or genitals make them “historical” is a REALLY, REALLY GOOFY AND DUMB IDEA.
I hope one day a woman is the best qualified candidate for the presidency. That day will not happen in 2016.
Seems Chelsea needs to go back and study the word “opportunity.”
There has ALWAYS been an equal opportunity for women to participate in politics. Look at how many are currently at the US Capitol.
Just because we have not found the correct woman to lead this country, is not the fault of USA policy.
Hillary seized her “opportunity” as Secretary of State and proved how lousy she is with her ‘consensus.’
She looks different enough that I suspect she has had some heavy duty plastic surgery too.
