I loved 1632 from Baen. Unfortunately, the author falls for the “rightwingers are anti-everything” meme. Other than that, it’s quite entertaining.

Eric Flint (who began the 1632 series) isn’t known as “The Red” for nothing. He’s pretty much an unrepentant Socialist of the unionista variety.

I’ve been watching Baen pretty closely since Jim died, particularly since Flint took over. I haven’t seen a lot of editorial movement, but I think thats because their top line writers are very well established and probably not that susceptable to bullying. The newer authors tho, won’t have that advantage - we’ll see where Baen is in another 10-15 years or so.

Aside: I love the 1632 series as well. Altho Flint does seem to increasingly fall victim to the pie-in-the-skiers out in the tech forum who want to advance the tech way too fast).
