I know people who have traveled there and they say, outside is S Africa, practically every permenant, civilized building that exist is very old and built by the British during the colonial era.
I was told the same by an American that had visited Kenya; the infrastructure was just falling apart from decades of neglect. Sort of like Detroit and other post-European settlement areas in the US.
