Demographics is destiny, and all the 'rainbow conservatives' are missing the point. You might not care about race, but race cares about you.
Rainbow conservatives view issues like this in the same way that Libertarians view immigration. In a perfect world, with no welfare, free transit of individuals might be a good and reasonable step.
But, we don't have that world, certainly not in the USA. So when you argue for 'open borders' and amnesty you are supporting massive wealth transfer and permanant Socialist majority.
The South already faces continual attacks on their heritage, ripping down statues of Confederate heros, renaming parks and public buildings.
There is nothing magic about the USA. What has happened in SA will happen here too. Count on it.
You’re right; it already is happening here in the US as well. Increasing numbers of people aren’t assimilated in any way, having not worked in generations, with no religious faith at all and barely passable English. They will never contribute to a tax base or breed employable offspring that might do so in the future; our home-grown element in now being augmented by an imported class of the same mindset. The marginalization of urban blacks that resulted from the welfare state of the 1960s has spread far & wide in white and Hispanic populations; these populations have no link to the WASP founding of this country, and see no reason to name streets for those founders. It was no accident that there were no US flags at the “Million Man March” or many of those “May Day” demonstrations that briefly flared up before disappearing because they were PR disasters with American voters...
Very true. Awhile back I was reading an article about the fall of the Roman Empire. The author went through all the usual reasons, then he added one of his own: the mindset of the Roman citizens. No need for them to worry. They lived in the greatest empire that ever was. Rome just couldn't fall. Why? Because it was Rome!
We are seeing a lot of that same type of thinking here in the USA today.
