San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon ordered an immediate internal investigation Thursday into what he called "disturbing" video showing an arrest by deputies after a horse pursuit that was caught on camera by NewsChopper4. Deputies appeared to use Tasers to stun a man and then beat him after the pursuit in San Bernardino County Thursday afternoon.
Aerial footage captured by NewsChopper4 showed the man falling off the horse, and then being stunned with a Taser by a sheriff's deputy. The man then appeared to fall to the ground with his arms outstretched. Two deputies immediately descended on him and began punching him in the head and kneeing him in the groin.
The group surrounding the man grew to 13 sheriff's deputies as several appeared to kick, hit, and punch him dozens of times over a two-minute period. In the two minutes after the man was stunned with a Taser, it appeared deputies kicked him 17 times and punched him 37 times and struck him with batons four times. Thirteen blows appeared to be to the head. The allegedly stolen horse stood idly nearby.

Yeah, show me some of those “hard-working, honest cops and I’ll buy dinner. The problem here is that somehow following the Constitution isn’t in their training manual these days. And the ole Sheriff is caught with egg on his face only because of the camera that was there to record the abuse. Ask yourself, in a flock of a dozen or more “officers,” why wasn’t there at least one who didn’t take part? Why wasn’t there a Sergeant or some other one level up type there to stop the free for all? I guess this guy is lucky, he’s still alive, unlike the guy in SC who was shot for having a broken tail light!

There job is to arrest the bad guys, not join in in some form of mob “justice” sans trial. This is nothing more than a bunch of thugs operating under the color of authority.
They used to hang horse thieves.
Serve and Protect! What are the cops smoking these days? They know there is a camera, they know they will be sued, possibly and should be fired, possibly and should go to jail, discredits the entire police force. There is no upside other than a quick billy bad ass adrenaline rush.

They gave their fans pretty much what they want. Cheer, when they do it in the neighborhoods of others. They’ll do it in your neighborhoods, too. They certainly made their most influential controlling constituents proud.

What matters the most is that all of the detectives returned safely to their families at home that night.
Agree, but I think this is part of the problem. When it's not just one bad apple you have to start thinking why so many of them have a problem. To me this suggests a problem from the top down in the police departments involved.
