The dashcam video shows that Scott took off while the cop was running his drivers license. Up until that point, things were civil. He knew he had a warrant for missing a child support hearing and, apparently, didn’t want to be arrested.
Stupid, stupid.
Worth being shot?
No.
But still, very stupid.
Of all people, Chris Rock put together such a course a few years ago:
Preventable?
Maybe not.
Think about it a moment, a cop who would shoot you in the back probably doesn’t need any excuse to shoot you from any distance for any reason.
I see a taser coming my way I will rabbit everytime. Those things are bad news. There is no way I would just stand there and accept the tase. My next door neighbor has one of those on the end of a flashlight. Just the sound of it gives me the heebie jeebies. :-)
Wrong police abuse case.
There was another thread about *this* case where somebody was saying that the 25 year old thug had drugs in the car and made a video about shooting cops. Again, wrong police abuse case.
This is the story about a 50 year old man who was shot in the back while running away. No drugs in the car. He wasn’t a 25 year old thug.
And there was no horse! lol!
(I know it’s tough to keep all of the latest police abuse cases straight this week...)
Real life evidence supporting what I said in post #23 can be found here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3277613/posts?page=100#100
Thanks.
I would not call what he was doing as running. Even my fat butt could have caught the guy and tripped him.
What in this video convinces you that the taser is not what Officer Slager dropped next to Scott’s handcuffed body?
+1
True, but absent in today’s technological world where the cops had all they need to pick this guy up within hours.
And both former Coasties too. Very sad.
The object fell off the cop’s belt when he grabbed Scott by the wrist. Then he tasered Scott. Then he shot scott, taser still in hand.
After, he retrieved the object, walked back and dropped that same object near the body.
He had the taser with him the whole time. He picked up the object in one hand, never transferred it and it was the object in that same hand that he dropped.
He didn’t shoot Scott with the taser still in his hand. When he reached for his gun, his left hand was empty. As he raised his gun, he pulled his left hand up to brace his gun as he shot. Standard shooting technique.
The taser was certainly not in the holster on his left hip when he went for his gun. It wasn’t in his left hand when he shot Scott. Has to be on the ground somewhere if Scott didn’t have it.
