You might want to read the article about the lady working as a bus driver, who moved, and didn’t notify the DMV within the 10 day period. Got a $25 ticket. Contacted the DMV and took care of the problem. Didn’t realize she still owed the $25.

Then without her knowing it, her license was suspended, she lost her job, and she and her kids are now on welfare.

The $25 ticket has now ballooned to over $2900. How’s she going to pay that on welfare, get her license back, and be able to go back to work?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper for the state to let her pay the $25, waive the rest and get her off welfare?
