Scott Walker Stands Up for American Workers Against Illegal Immigrants on ‘Hannity’
Breitbart - Big Government ^ | April 9, 2015 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 04/09/2015 4:59:30 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

......................“If the United States was being attacked in one of our water ports on the East or West Coast,we’d be sending in our military forces, and yet we’re facing some of the same challenges with international criminal organizations, the cartels that are trafficking not only drugs but weapons and humans and we need to step up and be aggressive,” he explained. “That means securing the border with infrastructure, with technology, with personnel and the federal government’s got to lead the way. We can’t expect the border states to do this alone. The federal government needs to step up and act.”

The most impressive part of Walker’s answer came at the end, where he didn’t just leave the issue at border security—he said that’s just step one,but after that’s completed there needs to an immigration policy that serves the national interest and protects American workers from cheap foreign labor that forces like the Chamber of Commerce, major labor unions, and other elitists are pushing for. He used language that sounds like it came from Sen. Jeff Sessions(R-AL), the immigration populist who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest—and specifically noted that wages of “American workers” must be protected.

“You can’t be talking about anything else until you do that,” Walker said. “Once you do that you can then we can talk about enforcing the laws by using an effective e-verify system for all employers, one that works for small businesses, farmers, and ranchers and making sure that any legal immigration,no amnesty, any legal immigration system we go forward with is one that ultimately has to protect American workers and make sure American wages are going up. That’s the way we prosper for every hard working American in this country.”

...If Walker stays on this path, it could mean bad news for the rest of the GOP field.

This doesn't sound like his positions in the past does it? If he becomes the nominee, I hope he will stick with this, but I can't help but be skeptical since it's so far from his previous positions.

Big whoop—he’d legalize and eventually give citizenship to the more than 20 million already here, which will triple to 60 million via chain migration—and then let anyone else who wants to come here come here too!

He’s not saying they have to move back home before getting in line to be citizens, only that they have to make a visit with their family back home before being put on the list applying for citizenship. THey’d still be living and working here, taking welfare and jobs from Americans.

It’s an old GOPe canard that he’s recycling.

PS But I agree, even if the competition of the race made him change course and not support legalization and/or citizenship and virtual open borders, he’d be completely untrustworthy on the issue.

And unfortunately it is the issue to end all issue as there will be no more conservatism in the US once enough Latino illegals and their relatives become voters.

You’re campaigning for another candidate, so you have to tear down Walker — attribute things to him that you don’t have a clue about. But that’s politics. I expect that Scott Walker is going to keep you very busy.

Thanks for the clarification. Personally, I think if you have come here illegally there should never be a path to citizenship. If we made that a law, I think it might help stop the tide a little bit.
When I hear “our immigration system is broken” it infuriates me. What is “broken” is the fact that our laws have not been enforced. There should be no such thing as an “anchor baby”. What insane policy automatically makes an infant whose parents are illegal a citizen?

Jan 26, 2015: “AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that Tennessee and Nevada have officially joined the multi-state coalition led by Texas fighting President Obama’s illegal attempt to unilaterally grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. The addition of these two states brings the total to 26, representing more than half the states in the Union.

“Texas is proud to lead a coalition that now includes a majority of the United States standing up against the President’s rogue actions,” said Attorney General Ken Paxton. “The momentum against the President’s lawlessness continues to build with Tennessee and Nevada joining the effort to protect our states from the economic and public safety implications of illegal amnesty. As President Obama himself has said numerous times, he lacks the authority to impose amnesty. His actions represent a blatant case of overreach and clear abuse of power.”

Joining Texas in the lawsuit are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin.”

I’m not campaigning for another candidate.

The farthest I’ve gone is saying Cruz is the best out there so far, but he too would legalize the 20 million plus—which isn’t good enough. We deserve and need better.

Meanwhile, I’ve posted links with Walker’s direct quotes over and over again—you know what I say about him is true. You just think that because he’s “your candidate” is good to try to mislead other Freepers about his positions.

I think that is detestable.

Yeah, right.

One thing for the donors, another for the base. What to believe?

Personally, I believe what he tells the folks from whom he wants money.

Go Ted Cruz!

Sorry, but I”m not.

What are you going to try now—to accuse me of undercover campaigning for Bush or Rubio or Christie?

They are all as bad as Walker on immigration.

Paranoid? Now you’re adding that to the baseless insults you’ve thrown at me on this thread just because I have pointed out Walker’s true position on illegals?

Good to hear that he is educating himself by visiting the border states and that he understands the connection to the American workers’ wages.
