I grew up in the 1960s and 70s in a town with smoke stacks and foundries.
Spent my summers on farms with cow flatulence manure and gasoline burning farm machinery.
Breathed leaded gas car exhaust while living next to a busy highway.
Painted barns with lead based paint.
Growing up in this much more polluted world, throughout my childhood and teens I do not know of one of my classmates or cousins that had asthma.
That stuff used to be durable as hell, just like when they had asbestos in roofing materials.
