True, asthma rates have been climbing. But the cause can't be a global warming-induced increase in smog, because smog levels in the U.S. have dropped 33% since 1980, according to the EPA.

I grew up in the 1960s and 70s in a town with smoke stacks and foundries.

Spent my summers on farms with cow flatulence manure and gasoline burning farm machinery.

Breathed leaded gas car exhaust while living next to a busy highway.

Painted barns with lead based paint.

Growing up in this much more polluted world, throughout my childhood and teens I do not know of one of my classmates or cousins that had asthma.

Painted barns with lead based paint.

That stuff used to be durable as hell, just like when they had asbestos in roofing materials.
