The Obama administration sent an invitation to his speech in Utah at Hill Air Force Base. We thought they wanted a representative from our company in the audience. Turns out they wanted the representative for a special round table with the president. Due to this mix up we sent my friend (a leader in our CAD dept) instead of the CEO.
Sounds like the invitation was lacking in details and a demerit to its author. Perhaps an intern wrote it, a flunky wrote it or the president wrote it.

Standard protocol for contractors is to wear a tie when meeting with the customer (DoD). Showing up in a polo for the meeting — no matter who might join in — was a bad idea.

Hey, give the guy a break. He was told he was going to meet Obama, so he dressed for the golf course.

My initial thoughttoo. What AFB, especially an AF material base, doesn’t have a golf course?

You’d think they would have a rack of empty suits standing by.

So it is the clothes that make the man. And, therefore, the man in the polo shirt would have “fit in” if he’d worn a suit. If suits made the man our country would be much better off than it is. Judging a man by the clothes he wears is about as shallow as you can get.
To: Mozilla
It reminds me of that famous emergency meeting some years ago when Obama came in late and sat in the corner wearing his golf clothes.

What kind of idiots do they have working at the White House that they can’t communicate better than this? Why wouldn’t somebody personally explain the purpose of the invitation and the details of the meeting? Also, don’t they have to run security clearances on everybody who is going to meet with the president? When I was a journalist I had to submit to a background check just to be in the media pool for a vice presidential visit and there were hundreds of people in attendance. Surely they vet the people who are going to be in a small room with the “leader of the free world.”
To: chris37
True. Obama doesn’t belong their. He is unqualified.

But Im sure the CEO is kicking himself immensely relieved over missing this chance to meet the president.
