I understand that running away is not a threat. I have also read several stories of Police over reacting so why would you run away and give them a reason to over react.

Seriously, where is this going? Suppose you are black, and you actually HAVE a concealed gun in this situation. Here are your choices.
1. Drop the gun and get shot (numerous times) and definitely killed.
2. Shoot first (don’t forget about the bulletproof vest!) and if you “win”, take your chances in court.
In case 1, you are DEFINITELY dead. In case 2, you might live. I might pick #2 in this situation.
This is a very, very bad road to go down. Justice needs to come down very swiftly and very hard here.

I have never had an outstanding warrant for not paying my child support. I can only guess that he was scared about going to jail.
They said he was dead. Not smart.
If someone was given a day ahead of time to think about it, most folks facing this type of situation would plan to just lay face down on the ground, with hands spread out.
But in the heat of the moment, sane folks often do irrational things. It is quite natural to want to flee from a threat. A good cop would understand this, and know how to properly handle such a response.
