Climate scientists highlight cloud mysteries in a bid to compete with astronomy and cosmology.
Clouds are key to understanding climate change, but more-realistic models of their formation are needed.
I wonder which junk science genius came up with that (that random blobs of water vapor floating around in the atmosphere are the key to understanding). And in light of the claims of this article, how did he ever convince himself that it was true, given that he was incapable of doing the science himself? And why should we believe him? In an earlier time, he would've no doubt claimed it was random blobs of phlogiston. This whole article is an admission that climatologists have no clue how to do real science. It's akin to astrologers appealing to mathematicians to prove that astrology is true, or alchemists appealing to chemists to prove alchemy is true, etc. The whole article is full of such revelations. --LibWhacker
Climate science needs more mathematicians and physicists. So say prominent climatologists who are trying to spark enthusiasm for their field in budding researchers who might otherwise choose astrophysics or cosmology. Talented physical scientists are needed to help resolve mysteries that are crucial to modelling the climate and, potentially, saving the planet the group says, such as the ways in which clouds are formed.
There is a misconception that the major challenges in physical climate science are settled. Thats absolutely not true, says Sandrine Bony, a climate researcher at the Laboratory of Dynamic Meteorology in Paris. In fact, essential physical aspects of climate change are poorly understood.

"The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite. "
Dwight D Eisenhower - and you're right - that part's never quoted.
In fact, essential physical aspects of climate change are poorly understood.
Exactly why all the hype about “climate change” is just that, hype.
We do not even know what we do not know.
But we do know that there are many important things that we do not know.
Cannot do climate models and predictions without knowing all of the important things and how they interact.
The Chilling Stars - I think that is the explanation that bothers warmers the most.
If they thought about it they might realize that a melting Arctic Ocean would cause another glacial advance.
My favorite sentence in this farcical analysis:
“Although climate scientists agree on the basics for example, climate change is primarily the result of human activity large uncertainties persist in climate sensitivity, the increase in average global temperature caused by a given rise in the concentration of carbon dioxide.”
Translation: “We don’t really know how it’s happening - but we’re absolutely sure who’s responsible (and it’s *you*).
The warmunists need some patsies.
They’re just wearing pasties??
Great line... tagable.
More water for the water planet. Problem is the freezing point stays relatively constant. At least in the physical world. In lala Progresso land, nothing stays constant. So warmer air will always hold more water until someone tells them there is a drought in California.
The Chilling Stars - I think that is the explanation that bothers warmers the most.
