JEB BUSH: I WOULD GOVERN LIKE LYNDON JOHNSON AS PRESIDENT
Breitbart ^ | 15 Feb 2013 | Tony Lee

Posted on 04/08/2015 10:09:49 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said he would strive to be like Lyndon Johnson, the Democrat famous for expanding the U.S. welfare state through the “Great Society,” if he were elected president. According to the Miami Herald, Bush made those comments Wednesday night in San Antonio, Florida at Saint Leo University, while speaking about education, immigration, and energy policy.

Bush did not address Johnson’s Great Society and War on Poverty programs, about which Ronald Reagan once famously quipped, “We had a war on poverty, and poverty won.”

Instead, he was referencing Johnson’s mastery of the so-called sausage-making process in Congress.

He vowed to approach the presidency as “master of the Senate,” as biographer Robert Caro described Johnson.

Ronald Reagan did a much better job with Congress than LBJ, in fact he actually advanced the conservative agenda against all odds.

Why does the Jebster think that paying LBJ a compliment would be a good thing?

I was told if I voted for Goldwater, that we’d have riots in the streets and find ourselves in a long unwinnable war, well I voted for Goldwater, and darn if they weren’t right.

LBJ had the dirt on everybody in Congress. If Jeb aspires to be an efficient blackmailer he’s going to have to stand in line behind Hillary.

Ole Jeb has reached so far across the aisle he’s fallen over into the oppositions’ pews.

I'm sorry Mrs. Bush, the Jebster would NOT make a good president.

Never saw this before.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he said he wanted to govern like Millard Fillmore

what an idiot.

If you are expressing admiration for the architect of the Welfare State, you are not ‘the opposition party’

It also makes him an idiot for expressing that admiration.

The man thinks he deserves to be president because it belongs to his family. Truth is that he’s far less accomplished than his brother, W.

W was more successful in academics, in business, and in politics.

Jeb only got on boards like Barclay’s because of FAMILY NAME. Most all of his successes are attributed to family name.

Obviously he is not gunning for our support with a statement like that.

I think the new model for Republican wins, is to get the votes of the Low Info Republicans who really don't pay attention, plus attract Democrat crossovers.

As a strategy, it's not bad.

As a governing principle for the health of the country, it's suicide.
