In an exclusive first interview inside Memories Pizza restaurant since it closed down last week, owner Kevin OConnor and daughter Crystal emerged from hiding and told Daily Mail Online they had been heartened by the support of 29,000 people who donated and many more who wrote to them. They revealed they are set to share their new fortune with disabled children, a womens help group, fire fighters, police trusts, Christian churches and Washington florist Barronelle Stutzman, 70, who was fined after declaring she would not serve a gay wedding.

Love this.
I’m so glad they are going to help that florist.
The British press doing actual journalism, an alien concept to the drive by media here. Very sad.
If you had 842,000 dollars would you sell pizza in Indiana? I’m thinking I might retire. I know, I know, but then the terrorists would win, building a business for her children to inherit, the thrill of entrepreneurship, but seriously.
I hope they get some armed security personnel, at least temporarily. Just sayin’.
Pence should have stuck to his guns a bit longer-—instead of caving to the snarling “compassionate” crowd.
There is much support for the pizzeria owners-—that evidences a deep vein of disapproval of the hateful gay agenda being foisted on Indianans.
You can guarantee the Obama Gestapo IRS will be coming after them in minute over that money. Time to get a good tax attorney before they do anything.
Great minds...see my post below yours. I kinda have a feeling they’ll be selling a heck of a lot more pizzas than they did before, from fired up new conservative customers from near and far afield.
Me too, she is about to lose her house.
Agreed.
I don’t know what the tax status of “go fund me” income is. I assume the IRS takes the position it is taxable ordinary income. They do need tax advice, as far as reporting, paying taxes, and then the status of charitable contributions they make with the money.
Memories Pizza entrance---such a cute place.
They need to become THE place for local Christians and conservatives to hang out.
There is a Little Caesar’s Pizza up the road that is literally hopping with business and has a lot of employees, there is a closer indy pizza place with a few employees that is not nearly as business.
Some of these smaller places could survive selling much less pizza, depends on rent and staff size I guess.
Wonder how many donations came in snail mail?
The amount of gift I or you or anybody in America can GIVE to a person is at least $12,000 before any taxes kick in,. Then, those taxes are paid by the GIVER—not the recipient.
I would guess that all of this money donated to the pizza business family was well under $12,000 in any INDIVIDUAL DONATION.
Therefore, I don’t think they owe a dime in taxes.
Thank God for the Pizza Girl!
