... He now works in Los Angeles as a résumé coach....
Can’t make this stuff up.
I thought the admission for schools like Harvard was to charge beaucoup bucks and admit the children of rich and famous alums.
This effort isn’t going to get a lot of sympathy unless we start deporting people who need deporting and stop offshoring our hiring. We aren’t happy about bending over backwards and screwing our own people in order to train the rest of the world.
That’s the logic of liberals ... shackle down those ambitious self starters who really can give the next generation a great society. After all no matter how many $$$ they raise for NPR we can’t be sure how those Asians will vote.
The California university system is even more explicitly rigged against Asian students (and whites, of course, but that’s permissible and not newsworthy, apparently).
Some chinese kids won’t make it into ivy league schools and will have to go to school with the rest of us riffraff.
I worked in the California State University system for a long time.
For thumbs on the scale (either way), “Asian”=”White.”
She had a minor roles in "The Office", and is the main character of "The Mindy Project" (a NYC OB/GYN, on FOX Tuesdays), and is in a few ads that you've seen (the "she thought she was invisible" insurance commercial was getting a ton of air play during NCAA tournament games).
Asians are the fastest growing ethnic group in the US. Most would never know this since so much focus has been on latinos, but watch for this to become a MUCH larger issue moving forward that will help Republicans demographically since Asians will turn against the Democrats because of issues like this.
“This effort isnt going to get a lot of sympathy unless we start deporting people who need deporting and stop offshoring our hiring.”
Why is that? You think it's right to discriminate against American citizens?
“We arent happy about bending over backwards and screwing our own people in order to train the rest of the world.”
This IS about “our own people,” Americans born right here in our country, but who happen to be ethnically Asian. It is on their behalf that this suit has been filed.

Two points... First, anything other than merit-based admissions, especially for the best universities on earth, is heinous.
Second, most Chinese in particular know, to the core of their being, that Education is the path to success. It is a HUGE cultural theme. EVERYONE wants to get into the best schools, and they work harder than most can imagine to get there. The competition, just to get into China's only 3 universities that are worth anything (6 if you include Hong Kong and Taiwan), is insane. Shutting them out, despite being the best, just because of their race, is abhorrent and incredibly unjust.
Yes,we’ve been traveling the past few years and in Asia. You either get and education or you work as a farmer or in a sweatshop. We found it interesting that English is taught from the first grade.
I'd reject them too just for the NPR fundraising.
Which is why the chinese have the best schools in the world right? And everyone wants to get into these excellent chinese institutes of higher education, right?
I come from the perspective of being of native American descent, and forgetting that until some fool speaks Spanish at me or tells me to “go back where I come from” because I’m not running around in some getup with feathers in my hair. I wasn’t offering an opinion so much as pointing out a fact.
I'd reject anyone who went to chinese dog-training camps where coaches fed them answers to standardized tests 12 hours per day.
Which “facts” are those?
Do you think people commonly conflate Asian-Americans with Illegal immigrants of Hispanic ethnicity?

Sue them until their whole endowment goes for legal fees.
“Mindy”, what a western sounding name! Take away the makeup and photoshop, and show her tick like body, and you wonder what the scam is. Why are they shoving this aborigine down our throats? She should be eating fire roasted fruit bats in Australian outback movies.
