Memories Pizza, the Indiana establishment, which sparked national outrage over its owner's anti-LGBT comments made Wednesday during a local news broadcast, has raised a whopping $842,387 in donations from supporters.
Following Indiana's contentious Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the Walkerton, Indiana restaurant became the subject of harsh criticism after co-owner Crystal O'Connor said she would refuse to cater gay marriages.
"If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no," she told a local ABC affiliate. "We are a Christian establishment."
Following the backlash over the remarks, supporters of Memories started a GoFundMe campaign, and the owners of the pizzeria were flooded with donations from more than 29,000 people.
As of time of this Wrap publishing, the money continues to come in hard and fast, raising another $300,000 in just the last 24 hours.
The movement was started by Blaze TV contributor Lawrence Jones, who initially launched the campaign seeking $25,000 after appearing Wednesday on the network's Dana Loesch talk show.
"Producers Rachel, Allison and George discussed the situation with Dana, myself and head writer Ben Howe. We all agreed: this family needs help to get through this assault," Jones wrote in an update explaining his move to start the campaign. "The intent was to help the family stave off the burdensome cost of having the media parked out front, activists tearing them down, and no customers coming in. Our goal was simply to help take one thing off this family's plate as the strangers sought to destroy them."
O'Connor's anti-gay marriage comments drew backlash on social media and subsequently prompted owners to close the store Wednesday for safety concerns after receiving multiple threats online.

Yep. 48 hours. Imagine if the charity was up for an entire week. The pizza owners could have started their own freedom foundation - with Americas blessings!
Agree I plan to vacation there this year.
OMG! It’s Pat!
I wouldn't go there now. Pence peed his pants when he heard the homo fascists first terrorist threat. I wouldn't want to reward a dumbassic, weak governor for doing a horrible job against his own constituents.
I was happy to donate too!
On Hannity they panned inside the pizzaria (which they’ve run for 9 years)....and there are framed scriptures and Christian items throughout the restaurant.
These folks are the real deal!
I can’t believe the way the slime in the “media”, even on FNC, still continue to trash conservatives and Christians. It’s almost as they are trying to pick a fight with the decent Americans.
Which is why the lesbian reporter drove 20 miles to get there. They were obviously a good target. It would send a message to ANYONE who was on Gods side of this spiritual war.
Satan isn't interested destroying bodies, although it helps. His goal is to destroy immortal souls, and this is what the lesbian set out to try to do that day.
that would be my question. these people were issuing death threats. that’s actionable. yet, nothing is done.
yea, wouldn’t you love to be that couple when the realization hits home:
the ‘authorities’ are against you
On this weeks shows, Rush Limbaugh said that he and his tech team have figured out (and have the evidence to prove it) that there are only about 15 or 20 activists out there who manipulate an algorithm on Twitter and other social media sites to generate thousands of nasty messages to their victims and victims associates and/or employers, making it look like there is widespread opposition, when in fact it is a vicious astroturfing operation be very few.
This should not only be on Rush, but FOX should at least be reporting something like this. Americans need to know this. It's why there's so much confusion going on in the country today. The vast majority can't understand why the very few are oppressing so many and getting away with it.
Admittedly I am no expert, but as far as I can tell the money is tax free to the pizzeria. The pizzeria did absolutely nothing for the people who are sending it, so it's not in any way earned income. In fact, it's a gift, which is taxed to the donor. OTOH, I assume that the donations are so small that they easily fall within the donors gift tax exemption.
I’d like to see them only keep what they need and donate rest to Judicial Watch
I have friends who are lesbian...very nice people. They are offended by Memories Pizza. Here’s the irony: They go out of their way to do business with only Lesbian owned businesses. By choosing this, They in effect, discriminate against heterosexual owned businesses if they can. Also, many of their customers choose to drive hundreds of miles just do business with a lesbian owned business themselves...discriminating against non lesbian owned businesses. They would all say they are all helping the lesbian community out, which is true and ok.
Why is the Christian community maligned for essentially using the same tactics for their cause? There’s no difference.
Here’s my point. These women have the right to interact with and help whomever they want to interact with. No one is going to argue this fact. However, when other folks go out of their way not to interact with lesbians, somehow some great civil rights crime has been created. This is the scary issue to me. We have to point this hypocrisy out at all times...don’t get all wimpy like the Governor of Indiana. Tell it like is unapologetically and most people will get it...even most gay people. It’s not a complicated principle.
On Twitter there was a lot of LibRage about the donations.
No Pence for prez...
Good news
You can't cut everyone off at the legs while they're trying to get it right.
Ok, 2024, fine. Just not now.
Fixed.
The movement was started by Blaze TV contributor Lawrence Jones....
Notice how the RACIST reporter on this piece ignored the fact that Lawrence Jones is a BLACK man.
Not so sure constituents agree it’s a wonderful state.
