Sen. Ted Cruz, pacing as he always does when making a stump speech, looked out on a room packed with people and made note of the furniture.
The reason Im optimistic is because we ran out of chairs, Cruz (R-Tex.) said to the crowd at the Longbranch Hotel, some in straight-backed chairs, others massed in the back.
Its a line Cruz would use more than once on his first trip to Iowa as a declared presidential candidate, underscoring his status as an emerging top-tier contender in the crowded 2016 race.
On a two-day, five-stop swing that took him from Sioux City to Dubuque County, Cruz was greeted by enthusiastic crowds packed into stuffy auditoriums and large ballrooms. Sporting a wireless microphone, he has honed his primary pitch to voters it involves a lot of gesticulating and looks more comfortable on the trail than before. He chuckles after his own jokes and a self-satisfied smile came each time the crowd applauded or shouted Amen after he called for the repeal of Obamacare or the Common Core education standards.
Cruz is the first major presidential contender to announce his candidacy, and he is having a moment. He has broken into the top tier of candidates, according to recent polls including a Washington Post-ABC News survey this week showing him trailing only Jeb Bush among Republicans and GOP-leaning independents.
Cruz is also surprising many with his ability to raise money, pulling in $4 million during the first eight days of his campaign. The majority of the contributions came from small-dollar donations, while 300 donors maxed out on their contributions.
This weekend, the campaign purchased television advertising time nationally on Fox News.....

I talked to a GOP-E voter today. He likes Jeb, but told me he would vote for Cruz if we get him the nomination. I also talked to another lady working at another store today. She complained that because she didn’t have any health insurance, she owes the IRS $500.00. She doesn’t have any income tax refund coming her way, so she won’t have to pay the fine, but I told her that Ted Cruz is the only candidate who has openly said if he is elected President, he will repeal Obamacare. I also told her to just listen to a few of Ted’s speeches on youtube. I may not have volunteered on tedcruz.org, but I’m doing my part to spread Ted’s message.
Wishing the Cruzes a beautiful and relaxed Easter! They deserve it!
I love it. I am just surprised it is from the Washington post.
And after Memphis, send him to Pennsylvania. If I can get off from work, I would even be willing to drive 300 miles to Pittsburgh, or to that rat hole known as Philthadelphia.
Give $10 for Ted!
Pledge 10 bucks a month to help Cruz get into the WH and hunt down and imprison these degenerate communist and homosexual animals that have been running our country into the ground since 2008!

You 'ARE' a volunteer every time you speak favorably about Cruz.....and he's counting on us to do just that! So you keep up that "good work"....it matters!
Does Cruz have security protection? I haven’t noticed any.
security protection?
Any “announced” presidential candidate is automatically afforded Secret Service protection.
But, I must say, after seeing him in Spartanburg yesterday, I didn’t “notice” and Secret Service either. They must have been there but well hidden.

The Ted Cruz for President campaign was in Rock Hill, SC on April 3, 2015 speaking to a lunchtime group of approximately 225 concerned citizens. This is the unedited speech.
Wonderful! This man is what tells the difference between a politician and a true statesman....he believes entirely in what he’s saying..and that from his inner man as well....so when those are in agreement truth can be told and the public is more than ready to hear that!
I hope you are right, but have you considered the sheer incompetence of the American voter?
Candidates don’t get Secret Service protection until the sitting president considers such essential to their safety.
I don’t think the protection is automatic.
So here's hoping that the numbers will show better then we deserve when all is said and done.
You are exactly right. God is the one who raises up leaders and brings them down. Let’s pray that He deems us worthy of Ted Cruz.
Candidates dont get Secret Service protection
until 120 days from the election.
