Anyone know if people who formally pledge an amount can later back out, if the fancy strikes them?

I’m afraid the O’Connors might not collect even half...

I'd bet they do.

They charge your credit card at the time of the pledge. So it wouldn’t be easy to back it out.

Anything can be done; you can challenge any charge on your card, but the money would come from GoFundMe to pay back the charge. Gofundme has no rights to access a funded account.

I haven’t done “GoFundMe,” but on Indiegogo, it’s all done by credit card and, no, you can’t back out. This is real money in real accounts.

What ever they do collect, the government will get at least half.

I gave. You use a credit card. I suppose you could cancel but I won’t and I suspect neither will anybody else who took the time to donate.
