Cruz is one smart guy, to be sure. And an able advocate for conservatism.

But it was a red state that sent him to the Senate. Who knows how he'll fare in a national election? It would be fantastic if he were nominated, but an utter disaster if he were to lose the general! We can't afford a Goldwater at this point in our country's history!

However, Walker, also a fine conservative, has withstood multiple ballot box challenges in a blue state, augmented by national 'Rat resources, despite having kicked key Democrat interests in the teeth.

We'll just have to see how it unfolds.

Cruz is no Goldwater. He is a heck of a lot more charming and likeable for starters.
On a more serious note, whoever run against Johnson in 1964 was likely to lose because of Kennedy’s assassination. Cruz on the other hand, is running in part against a sitting president, Obama, who is by far the most divisive, lawless, arrogant, dishonest and anti-American in history, and likely running against a really corrupt, dishonest, unlikable Hilary Clinton. I just don’t see a creature like Hilary Clinton beating a charismatic great debater like Ted Cruz if Cruz should win the GOP nomination. Hilary Clinton is doomed to be beaten twice by a young 40 something first term US senator.

Essentially it is two national elections. One the state
primaries and the 2nd the General.

In the General it will come down to which candidate can
carry those few states that can go either way. Many states
will be no contest as they are either in one camp or the other.

Certainly not time to throw Walker to the wolves, but don't overstate his abilities.

Cruz not only fought the far left dems here in Texas, Cruz also fought the liberal GOP-E and their favorite, Dewhurst.

The GOP-E lost, but they love to fight conservatives.

Cruz not only had to fight Dems to win the seat, he also had to fight the good-old-boy Republican network. They are as or more nasty and mean than the Democrats.

I never vote out of fear. If it's not Cruz as President I will not vote that race.

But I certainly have no problems with Walker as VP. He's earned those stripes the hard way, and like Cruz, has a reputation for a reason.
