Anti-discrimination activists and gay rights groups welcomed a lightning evolution by Jeb Bush, this week on a controversial law passed in Indiana last week that opponents said would have made it easier for businesses to discriminate against LGBT employees and customers.
On Monday, Bush praised the law as signed by Indianas governor, Mike Pence. On Wednesday, the former Florida governor and likely 2016 presidential candidate drew back sharply in his approbation, conceding only that the law would be in the right place by the end of the week, after an anticipated fix by the Indiana legislature.
Bushs original remarks were made on the Hugh Hewitt radio show, whose core audience comprises the kind of hard-right conservatives who tend to vote in primary elections. Bushs second remarks were made in Palo Alto, California, at a Silicon Valley fundraiser.
As a probable candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, Bush could face a hazard that dogged the partys last nominee, Mitt Romney, who was accused of saying one thing to appease conservative primary voters and then changing his message for the general election. The recent pair of Bush statements, however, suggests that in his case, the process may be significantly accelerated.
Marc Solomon, national campaign director of Freedom to Marry, said Bushs first remarks were terrible and out of synch with the majority of American voters who stand strongly in support of protecting gay and lesbian people from discrimination.

Note to homosexualists: queer “marriage” has been defeated in every state where the people were allowed to vote on the matter.
Note to homosexualists 2.0: even liberals, in private moments when you aren’t around, mock and despise you.

One day, Terri Schiavo was a human being and a citizen of Florida who had a right not to be murdered. The next day, Terri Schiavo needed to be killed in order to preserve Jeb Bush’s political career.
Jeb Bush murdered Terri Schiavo so that someday he could flip-flop on religious liberty.
Great question, send that out to the Cruz and Walker campaigns.
>> Why are our idiots so afraid of
Popular disapproval — which means they have no allegiance to the base.
On the other hand, Cruz, Palin, Nugent, et al are completely comfortable expressing their views regardless of circumstances. That’s character. And that’s why we respect them.
Given the choice Elizabeth Warren would stand at the throttle of the locomotive pulling the cattle cars filled with Christians.
Very true,
Clinton and Obama have been incredibly lucky to have had the likes of Trent Lott and Boehner leading the limp wristed opposition against their corruption of the constitution, its as if they have a ‘kick me’ sign on their back and always capitulating for the weakest of reasons, same with many of the R- Governors.
Either they want the same thing as the Democrats (very likely) or their weak and vain and care only about their continued invites to appear on MSM talk shows where they’re praised as ‘mavericks’ for siding with their forward thinking Democrat counterparts,
At least the Democrats (as evil as they are) will stand and fight,
No it doesn't. Hugh Hewitt is the quintessential GOPe toadie. His idea of a "good conservative" includes Mitt Romney, Karl Rove, Lindsey Graham, John McCain.
