It seems that Jeanine Grant Lister, author of the Friday column Why we so hate poor people, is not totally satisfied with the Nanny State Socialism teat that she has apparently suckled on for most of her life. Like a petulant teen who cant understand why she has to take out the garbage and do the dishes to get her allowance, she wants us to fork over our hard-earned money, no questions asked, so she can decide how to spend it.
Its derided as a tired cliché, but the safety net is easy to turn into a hammock. We see examples all around us. Women being welfare brood mares, raising generations who have no concept of self-reliance, responsibility or work ethic. Beating the system is apparently easy, as I see most EBT card users pushing two carts, one filled with what I bought, the other filled with what they bought. Follow these people to the parking lot sometime. They almost always are in command of a newer vehicle than my 12-year-old truck, often with custom wheels, tires and aftermarket stereos that shake the ground.
Yes, Jeanine, if I had my way, you wouldnt have an EBT card. You would go to a Gubbmint warehouse staffed by welfare recipients and get your surplus rice, beans, cheese and milk. Many of us paying your way were raised on the same foodstuffs; they were just paid for by our parents. Liberals dont love the poor, they love having people poor. The Socialist Nanny State is an ongoing dress rehearsal for how liberals see Utopia. Dont worry, dont work, dont even think. Just trust us to take care of you as long as you jump through our hoops and vote Democrat. Conservatives dont hate poor people, they hate people being poor. They know that a person properly motivated and educated can rise out of adversity and accomplish many things for themselves, their children and society.
We have made it too easy to be poor, removing the need for basic human needs as an incentive to work, seek work and survive. Liberals call it compassion. I call it slavery.
