Gift? I pay for it in my taxes... and those taxes will be there for YOU should God suddenly say ENOUGH to your pride...

I do despise how Caesar has edged out the church charity of old. Believe me I asked my church. They helped all they could.... A little. Caesar has the biz right now, whether we like it or not. It will take a lot of GRACE to change that picture.

The church also makes judgments on you, whether you are aware of it or not.
Someone working, who suddenly has a REAL illness, and cannot work, then the church will probably step in and help if you are a member of that church.
The lazy people, the people who pop out babies they cannot afford, the druggies, the thugs- then I will bet the church will not help.
The government does not make the decisions about the truly needy vs the lowlifes, and treats everyone the same. Therefore, the lowlifes get benefits they should not receive.
The church is able to differentiate between the two.
I have no problem with helping the needy, but if you are middle class, a taxpayer, own a home, have a car and then find yourself on hard times- you do not get the help because you have assets.
The poor get everything.
I am tired of it.

With deficit spending the govt has no stash to give you back your previous contributions.
