The people in Gadianton Harry’s ward can do something if he is called to do a job other than home teaching. The name is put before the congregation for a sustaining vote, which is usually unanimous. They then ask for those who oppose to raise their hand. The bishop will then probably pull those people aside to discuss their opposition to the person being in that job. I suspect that if enough people take issue, he would most likely be precluded from holding a position. But the final power is in the hands of his bishop and then his stake president. His bishop is the main guy tho.

Listen, I know Mormons are offered a verbal "sustaining" of some of its leaders (I'm pretty sure that does not include visiting home teachers).

You have to understand that even the verbal call to "sustain" a Mormon leader is essentially a verbal "rubber stamp."

If somebody disagrees with a given person, they are silent. (It's not like a "yes" and "no" vote -- and NOBODY...absolutely NOBODY...ever gets "rejected" by such a verbal call to "sustain" a given leader...It's essentially assumed that "the brethren" know what they're doing & they wouldn't even put a person in that position unless it was already directed by the gods-that-be)

Well, it may not mean much to you, but if I was in that ward, I would not only raise my hand in opposition, I would stand while doing it. I’ve caused a few waves before and will probably do it again. Too many have become squishes. We need to change that.
