Just to follow up….

Gallup has a similar poll;

40% Conservative to Somewhat Conservative

35% Moderate

23% Liberal to Somewhat Liberal

4% with no opinion.

yes, but you know as well as I do that those that identify as “conservative” are much more inclined to disclose that they are conservative, while that 35% of “Moderates” contains a majority of people with liberal beliefs who don’t want to be labeled as liberals.

But in any case, Cruz is right. He can rally the base.

I honestly can’t see how a conservative could not like the man. He is strong socially, but that’s not his only platform. He is strong fiscally and fights Obamacare and government waste as hard as he can. He is strong foreign policy-wise and stands up for our allies.

He’s not Duncan Hunter, he’s actually succeeded in getting his name recognition out there

He’s not Fred Thompson, he’s actually running to win and will campaign as hard as it takes to get across the finish line and not just “expect” people to support him.

He’s not Tom Tancredo or Mike Huckabee he’s not a single-issue candidate, but is solid across a wide range of policies.

He’s not Newt Gingrich, he’s an even better debater and doesn’t have any Pelosi couch moments.

He’s not Sarah Palin, he actually got into the race and isn’t leaving anything to speculation.

Like Limbaugh and Palin, when he speaks, he commands and audience. I do not get the whole “running out the clock” and reports that people get “annoyed” at his lengthy speeches.

I read an article from an inside the beltway “conservative” that called Cruz an “a-hole” and that “unlike Reagan, Reagan was a likeable figure”. Now I was just a kid growing up when Reagan was President, but I’m pretty sure no one in the media referred to him as a “likeable” guy. They’ve been trying to throw this out there so that they can compare Cruz to 64 Goldwater while writing off the results of the 80/84 Elections.

I can tell he is different just by the people on FR that have gotten on board. Back in 08/12, there were many factions here fighting for their candidates, but Cruz has the support of many (if not most) of those people here. I have not witnessed that in almost 10 years since posting here. This is indeed something different.

The way I see it, Cruz is the last chance for Conservatives to stay within the Republican Party. If the RINO/Establishment prevails, then the conservatives need to leave the GOP and begin funding a new party.
