This has all been going on for thirty-odd years. You’d have to fire everyone if you did a full-scale security investigation on DEA guys like you do currently on military personnel.

As far as I am concerned, the DEA and BATFE are tied for "most corrupt federal law enforcement agency in the history of the Republic".
Probably farther back into the time of BNDD.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Capone bought off a lot of Chicago cops in his day, after all. And the drug cartels have more money and influence than Al ever imagined having. I’d like to think that it’s only a handful of bad agents that get corrupted, but I’m too cynical these days to be shocked if it is more widespread than that.
So we shouldn’t do background investigations on law enforcement officers? Ya know people who are collecting evidence, handling drugs, money, presenting testimony to possibly put people in jail for the rest of their lives?
