over engineering is certainly a trait - and they do like to push the envelope - as in the Zeppelin.
They did produce the world’s best rockets - our space program was started by German rocket science. They produced the first jet fighter...had they done it sooner the world might be a very different place.
And for hoots, they still produce Audis, Mercedes, VW, BMWs - some of the worlds finest vehicles.
Also some of the worst electrical problems. They can engineer things, but they sure can’t wire them heh.
