Take DC for instance (Pleae!) your average gentrifier seems to be a yupped-out gubmint employee who will crawl naked over broken car window glass (that and broken malt liquor bottles) to several precincts to vote for Kid Kenya/or equivalent, early and often.

Yeah, many if not most of the new whites in these areas probably still vote Democratic... BUT they wont just vote for some idiot like Shella Jackson Lee, they will replace the token black who has held the office for decades who cant even read with a more competent person with a D after their name.

I know.. from our perspective, that's not exactly a big win, but from the safe black incompetent politicians prospective... their JOB is on the line when these liberal whites move in.

Looking at the voting records of NYC residents at all income levels over the past 50 or so years, I respectfully disagree. Wealthy whites vote D out of guilt; poor minorities vote D out of gibsmedat.

[ I’m always amazed at these low income (or no income, only our tax dollars for EBT, Section8, etc..) areas, and how they are littered with garbage and debris all over the sidewalks, and in empty lots. These people have no pride in the areas in which they live, to pick up a broom and clean up. No personal responsibility to try to go out and get a job to better themselves. No understanding of the concept of work ethic. It’s unreal. Oh, they must be typical Obama voters. ]

That is because as soon as they become a “gibs me dat” contingent the government and their culture strips away the concept of “property ownership” and the “tragedy of the commons” takes over.

If you have section A housing why do you care if you punch a hole in the wall or not? It is not your stuff you are wrecking so you don’t care anymore.

This is why in these areas the only “nice” things are the cars because that is one of the few things the people actually OWN.

To solve this you get people off the government dole and when they actually have to dump their TIME into earning money to buy things they start to take better care of things.

It took a Columbia professor to figure out that when you improve a neighborhood, people are more likely to stick around. Who would have ever guessed.
