A Facebook post the other day asked - Can anyone here with their thinking brain (not desiring heart) help me understand how Sen.Ted Cruz could be remotely competitive in a nation-wide general election matchup with a D nominee?
I have been thinking about it. I don’t want to be completely starry eyed, although I am a big Cruz fan.
1. He is very intelligent and articulate. I don’t believe that the American population is stupid. I think they are often ignorant, but not stupid. He has the ability to explain concepts in a believable way and engage people, enlisting them into his vision.
2. He is Hispanic. We don’t need all of the Latino vote, just enough to tip the scales a bit. He will have the platform to charm that audience as much as he does the rest of us. And there will be those who vote for him just because of his last name. Maybe not as large a percentage as O did, but some.
3. If we can extrapolate from his speech, he will be actively campaigning to the evangelical population. They are the ones who have been sitting out the last 2 presidential elections. I think that they are a large reason that Bush won in 2000. And Hispanics will not be “offended” by the religious message.
4. He will definitely get out the conservative vote. That is who he is and we love that about him.
5. He has that Reagan optimism. We have been missing that and Americans are/were optimistic people. We long to hear more of that and less of the woe is me and everyone else stuff.
6. If he can convince folks that he really can get rid of Obamacare and the IRS he will attract a good amount of votes.
7. If he can convince the youth that he can turn around the job situation in a real way and not the “change the tabulations” way some of them will come over. Like the Hispanic vote, all we need is a few percentage points shift. They have been living on hope and now need a bit of prosperity.
All in all, I would like to believe that this could result in a Cruz victory. Then we will just need to battle the Republicans in our way.
Ted’s wife is no dummy either......executive @ Goldman
Sachs and a native daughter of CALIFORNIA. Specifically,
she was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, my late
mother’s hometown and my old college town.
LIBs are both self-loathing and hateful. They deserve unrelenting ridicule...nothing more and nothing less.
My dad’s favorite photo was taken in Governor Reagan’s
office in 1972 (I think). Pop was the California state
FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America) advisor. The
photo included a state assemblyman, the state FFA pres,
a PR man from Santa Fe RR, my dad, and Reagan. My dad
recalled that while they sat at the conference table
Reagan passed around a jar of jelly beans and mentioned
the painting hanging on the conference room wall. The
painting was a cowboy on horseback. Reagan said that
sometimes he pictured himself as that cowboy riding off
into the sunset.
Man, oh man, it was a good thing for the world RR didn’t
choose to be that cowboy at the time!
I thought no one remembered Obama. Did Dershowitz say he did?
That's just lovely...do these morons realize they're calling themselves out?
I think, in a way, conservatives are a bit lazy when it comes to politics. They want to be free and left alone to focus on God, family, and their abilities to support themselves.
Leftists are diehard, full-blown nutcases who detest anybody who does not think exactly like them and will take as much time as required to destroy conservatives and our once-free country.
I used to love going to McLintock's and get their Turkey Nuts for an appetizer. The waiters and waitresses used to pour your water from over your shoulder about head high. I never got wet.
Sad to say, I still haven’t watched it.
I’ve been working, though. I’ll watch after I’m off tomorrow.
Oh, yah, been there, done that, bought the hangovers.
McClintocks turkey nuts are like KFC. Up around the
corner is Bull’s Tavern. Bull was my gg uncle.
He's smarter than all their potential candidates put together and has brain power to spare.
He's unapologetically conservative and not cowed by the Left's attempts to demonize him.
He's truly decent and sincerely loves Jesus.
He has a moral and ethical standard that puts them all to shame.
In short, he's the anti-Obama/Left-Wing Party and when one uses him as a touchstone, they all come up impure and substandard.
I think you’re right.
He said Cruz was his most intelligent student ever.
