I would suggest to Ms. Harris-Perry that she do a two-sided coffee cup. On one side it can say “America was built on principles of white supremacy”

The other side should say “those principles built the greatest nation in history.”

There are some sins which America would not want to repeat if we had it to do over. It did have a tendency to look down at black people. The first American chattel slavery case was that of a black slave of a black master. That demeaned both parties, but it was easy enough to say “oh, let them have their way, they don’t know better.” Fast forward to George W. Bush and “the soft bigotry of low expectations.” The problem was not one of doling out too few material goodies from one race to the other. The problem was a demeaning condescension.
