PHOENIX, Ariz. Fifth grader Aaron Bencomo brought the Arizona Senate Education Committee to tears as he testified in support of HB2190, a bill to end Common Core in the Grand Canyon state.
With his mom Kristi sitting to his left beaming with pride, Aaron decimates the one size fits all Common Core standards detailing how they are destroying his love of leaning as they ignore kids unique learning needs for the sake of conformity.
I dare you not to tear up as Aaron cites from the Declaration of Independence to support his desire for the adults in the room to stand up against tyranny and fight in his defense when he closes by saying, It is your right to alter or abolish Common Core as I cannot.

Get YOUR children out of the government indoctrination centers - NOW!
AMEN!
Agreed.
What an articulate, thoughtful young citizen.
He must be destroyed.
There was a twilight zone episode about that. The kid had come of age for taking the government intelligence test. The parents were all worried but the kid said he’d do fine.
He took the test and the Gov sent the parents a correspondence saying their child had surpassed maximum intelligence standards and asked what they would like done with the remains.
CommieCore.
He only reduced it by 10%? Too bad that he could not have done better than that.
Actually his vocabulary is probably more comprehensive than that of the writer of the article.
“What an articulate, thoughtful young citizen.
He must be destroyed.”
That’s what Common Core is all about.
Note the absence of a teleprompter, cue cards or notes. This young man will go places.
Later
Jeb Bush loves CommieCore.
I am for scraping the whole system. I would much rather see a system of six data points. Lets use math as an example.
The students current skill qualification (csq) would me a set of six numbers and or letters. Lets assume that math is the second category in that mix. Someone who has been tested and determined to be competent in 7th grade math would have a CSQ of X 7 X X X X . Someone who has been assessed to be competent at 11th grade math would have a B (A =10 B =11 C =12, etc) X B X X X X.
The idea would be that a minimum CSQ would be established for the conferring of a HS diploma. I believe that many would adopt C C C C C C as this requirement. The six subjects that I see would be:
English
Math
Science
US History / Civics
Humanities (includes sports, arts, music +1 each)
Language & Technology (+1 for each language and/or technology class)
That way, someone in their 10th year of education (10th grade) who has a CSQ of 8 A 9 A B A could be shown that they need to work on English and Social Studies classes and lay off the arts and sports for a little.
Colleges could further this by tailoring the CSQ to degree programs.
Just a thought
CommiCore
Common Corps
I suspect that the kid was indoctrinated concerning his critique about what hes being taught in school.
So why wasnt the kid at least indoctrinated to tell AZ wigs the following? The states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to dictate policy, such as with Common Core, for what is taught in intrastate public schools.
Bravo to his parents - well done!
This young man is an example for everyone of what it means to be an American.
But I wonder if those crocodile tears some on the Committee were shedding will translate into meaningful action, or did she just get caught up in the emotion of the moment? We’ll see.
