"Unrestrained and unlimited?"
Not really. Alcohol (the worst drug on the face of the earth) has some limitations and restraints. But it's still legal.
Everybody saw how black markets for alcohol made the situation worse. The same principle applies for all "contraband." In a free country, you don't threaten someone with prison merely for possessing the wrong plant, medicine, or liquid spirits. It's absurd on its face.
Prohibitionists seek the "comfort" of a (necessarily) unconstitutional police state as a solution. It's not, and it never will be.
The challenges of actual Freedom, warts and all, are infinitely preferable to shortsighted and Tyrannical Prohibitionist solutions.
Such "solutions", which rationalize Tyranny, are far worse than the problems they portend to address. History has demonstrated that.
There's no justification for the unconstitutional War on Drugs.
