I’m sure the cat would do a better job, not least because cats are great at delegating, but never afraid to plunge in and do the job themselves. Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
You’re right, just watching negotiations over territory in my back yard is enough to convince me the cats are better fitted for that sort of thing. Never forget the time the cat jumped on the dog and rode him around hanging on by the claws (pretty sure the dog won’t either, wish I’d had a camera!)
