Well, its pretty clear now: Benjamin Netanyahu is going to be a major figure in Israeli history not because hes heading to become the longest-serving Israeli prime minister, but because hes heading to be the most impactful. Having won the Israeli elections in part by declaring that he will never permit a two state-solution between Israelis and Palestinians it means Netanyahu will be the fatherr of the one-state solution. And the one-state solution means that Israel will become, in time, either a non-Jewish democracy or Jewish non-democracy.
The biggest losers in all of this, besides all the Israelis who did not vote for Netanyahu, are American Jews and non-Jews who support Israel. What Bibi did to win this election was move the Likud Party from a center-right party to a far-right one. The additional votes he got were all grabbed from the other far-right parties not from the center. When the official government of Israel is a far-right party that rejects a two-state solution and employs anti-Arab dog whistles to get elected, it will split the basic unity of the American Jewish community on Israel. How many American Jews want to defend a one-state solution in Washington or on their college campuses? Is Aipac, the Israel lobby, now going to push for a one-state solution on Capitol Hill? How many Democrats and Republicans would endorse that?

If they do agree then why should Israel believe them, given past actions and statements?
That’s why Netanyahu says that any agreement has to take into consideration Israel’s security needs. In other words, you sign an agreement, but you have your security arrangements as if nothing is signed.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is smart that way. So then, they’ve got their state like everyone in the world is clamorous about, but Israel’s security is taken care of, if the new state ignores the agreement.
The Netanyahu I know has always taken the position as outlined in his Bar-Ilan speech back in 2009. The issue of “flip-flopping” is only pushed by those who have an agenda of “hating on Netanyahu” ... in other words, they’re always looking for an excuse ... :-) ...
There are two ways that the Palestinian Authority gets their state ... one way is by negotiations with the Israelis and setting up the security arrangements that Israel needs. The second way they get it is without negotiations from Israel and simply recognition from other countries and the UN, with accompanying sanctions on Israel if they don’t comply.
Now, of the two ways, it’s more advantageous for Israel to accomplish it by negotiations. The disaster for Israel is to have sanctions on them, and no business in the world able to do any commerce with them any longer. That would do more damage to Israel than all the rockets that Hamas has shot at them in the history of their fight.
Netanyahu knows which way produces better results for Israel.
An Arab leader who recognizes Israel’s rights as a state has jumped the shark. Anwar Sadat did and was murdered for it.
King Hussein of Jordan recognized Israel, but during his entire reign the Palis were trying to kill him.
Abdel Al-Sisi knows he is under a death threat so he is about to do to the MB before they do unto him.
Erdogan would like to de-recognize Israel & proclaim himself Caliph, but knows that scared Jews with nukes nearby could be dangerous.
Leftists love low information voters. Netanyahu favors a SUSTAINABLE two state solution. The "two state" solution on the table right now is fatally flawed because the Palestinians want to wipe Israel off the map.
Anyone with common sense understands that. For the past twenty years or more Israel's neighbors have been incrementally doing all they can to weaken Israel, from the foolish "land for peace" to demands to return to 1967 borders.
What assurance does Israel have that the United States stands with them, given the current administration's lack of support to Israel, and increased support to the Muslim Brotherhood and anti-Israel states?
Many fault Scott Walker for not being definitive when being interviewed - Bibi made one comment, that may have been sarcasm as much as anything, and it opened a door for those who want to attack him.
All media is running with this now...forgetting that just as BIBI said...how in the world could Israel agree to a Palestinian state .....Heck Isis would come in a scoop that baby up in a heartbeat.
And just cause it needs saying...The Arabs and Palestinians don't want a state....they want to continue to take Israeli land until they cannot protect themselves and there is no Israel.
Anyone who thinks the Muslim world will ever desire peace with Israel has their head clearly in the sand.
If Israel said she'd lay down all weapons and never war again....and did so...the ME nations would massacre Israel.
If the ME nations said they'd lay their arms down and never war again...there would be Peace.
The problem with the media running with that ... is that they are running with a LIE ... because Netanyahu has DENIED THAT several times over again, after the elections and very emphatically.
Netanyahu has said that he is NOT for a ONE-STATE SOLUTION (which some people are, and especially the Arabs, too) ... but that he is for a TWO-STATE SOLUTION!!
So how can the Media say that about Netanyahu when he has DENIED it being his position.
Netanyahu’s CONSISTENT POSITION, which he says has NOT changed ... and everyone knew exactly what it was, before, too ... was his Bar-Ilan speech from when Obama first got into office from years ago. He has NOT changed his support for that TWO-STATE SOLUTION all this time. There is NOTHING NEW in his position from years ago.
Here is his Bar-Ilan policy speech. THIS is what Netanyahu says, in the media interviews, after the election and he refers specifically to this policy speech!
