Bless you and yours. I’m trying the exact same thing. We go to farmers markets to get cheap pastured eggs in flats, and we found a farm that sells grass fed ground cheaper in bulk too. We try to buy the thin skinned fruits and veggies only organic.
My parents always pooh poohed organic and my dad walked around with a sprayer of round up in his hand, spraying weeds in the yard. Money both are suffering from Alzheimer’s. I’m trying to give my 4 kids the cleanest food and environment I can, also on very little these days.
It’s work, isn’t it? But well worth the effort. My kids have gone from complaining about the lack of junk food to thanking me for making food that makes them feel good; especially when they eat processed food elsewhere.
Like your parents, my in-laws rolled their eyes at organic/healthy eating, but have lately made some minor changes and my father-in-law is doing very well. He was in the early stages of dementia and has reversed it for now. He has a masters degree in agronomy and was a defender of conventional farming, but is starting to change his views on that.
