In India, cow pies, as we call them, are used to make fires for cooking and heating. I can’t imagine what the smoke smells like.
So were Buffalo chips and cow chips here in the USA back about 150 years ago. If you have ever seen dry horse dung burn you will realize it burns HOT and could be used for barbeque fuel.
The smoke actually doesn’t have an odor...other than regular smoke. Burning cow dung is actually a mosquito deterrent.
I was at a flea market a while back. Cow dung was being sold in cute little bags and advertised as a mosquito repellant for the patio. Lots were being sold. I got a big chuckle out of it.
