I expect I’m wrong about who was pres when it was cancelled. FR is a good place to get corrected.

I checked and the SSC was officially cancelled Oct. 21, 1993 but there was a vote to pull the plug in the summer of 1992 (when 41 was still in office) but the Senate saved it. Reagan started the project in 1987, projected cost of $4B, soared to $11B when cancelled. I was sad just like when Ares was cancelled in 2010, so short-sighted.

And as a side note, Black Hawk Down was Oct. 3, 1993.

Thanks for the info. FR is a great place to get facts sorted out, and it's folks like you that make great freepers, checking that real data.
