I wonder what the viewer demographic stats look like.
Fox is particularly awful. It appears their goal is to coarsen and debauch anything they touch.
I hate the commercials for the show, so I know I wouldn’t watch it. However from the comercials, it totally looks like black stereotypes from start to finish.
More ‘Made for the Masses’ BS!
Unwatchable.
What’s an “African-American?” Many of these people don’t have any connection to the natives of Africa. Hell, many don’t know the FIRST THING about Africa. Would a white South African coming to America be known as an “African-American” too?
I watched two episodes.
It is certainly a negative portrayal.
The question, really, is whether or not it is accurate.
I think it was Eric Bolling who said Empire is the first show since 1991 to increase viewership in each subsequent episode
This is I am gonna slap yo bitch ass because I am from the hood, Watkins insisted.

I teach in a predominantly Black High School (85% Black, 14% Latino and 1% White and Asian.) and I must say that the above statement is 100% correct. That IS most of this generation of Black America. It’s been “ghetto” for a long time. Now, it is gangsta/thug-ghetto. Fo sho bro.
You mean sorta like the viral videos we see week in & week out of Black Beastie Girls brawling it out.
I wonder if they get upset about BET stereotyping blacks in the movies and shows they have on?
Just how does one "negatively portray" a sub-culture that has in recent years willingly and deliberately degenerated itself into the most sub-human thuggish behavior on the planet? Okay, maybe the second worst, after the muslim sub-humans; but the point needs to be made.
I am so sick of this “race discussion” I could scream....in fact I think I will. :-)
.
If so, “Empire” wouldn’t be the first FOX show to depict African-American culture in a bad light.
Isn’t “COPS” still running on FOX?
Does that mean I can say, "Nigga Please" ...in an affectionate, endearing way, of course.
To paraphrase Dann Rather, it’s negative, but accurate.
I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should get a ‘Coonan’ hat and t-shirt, for fear of getting negative feedback from low-information folk. The large .357 magnum, semi-automatic handgun on the shirt should be a clue, but might be taken as some sort of threat.
I believe that is racist. Doesn't matter who said it.
But then again, there is that "pesky" First amendment.
5.56mm
“Coonery”
Now that’s funny!
