Why would a conservative Republican associate with and conduct business with, and put into such a prominent position, an individual who is obviously pro-amnesty?

Mmmm... report the news regarding a very prominent candidate. Didn't Scott hire this particular person for this position? Wasn't he for amnesty before he said he has changed his mind recently? If he truly wanted to show people that he has changed his mind, would he hire a very open amnesty promoter? What kind of message does that send to people who are trying to believe him?
